I put everything over here now. Join me, won't you.

Monday, 3 October 2011

I've been having a go at felting as a side project since I saw Dominica More Gordon's wonderful felt dogs. I ordered a whole heap of wool so that I can work on making a collection of critters.

The only success I've had so far is an alpacas face, the rest has been disastrous, but I'm learning!

This Way Up

Another little series of drawings that I did for a brief over the summer. My original intention was to scan them in and arrange them into a repeat pattern, but I after trying it (and making a mess) I think I prefer them as they are.

Yesterday and Today

Yesterday I found this marvellous (though many disagree) camel teapot in Mold for £1. He holds tea for one. He was one of many finds that day, Mold's charity shops have been fruitful lately!

Today I found this poor guy in the front of my sketchbook. Unfortunate. I'm not sure when it happened but I feel pretty bad. May he rest in peace.

Work in Progress

I'm working on a little personal project to start filling my collection of empty frames. It's a series of small pencil portraits of my favourite creative people. So far these all happen to be ladies but I may add Frank Zappa to the group later on, his moustache would be wonderful to draw!

Curly hair on the other hand, not so much.

Three Glorious Things

Henry Cyril Paget, the first person in Anglesey to own his own car. He had the exhaust perfumed so that the air would be filled with the smell of strawberries as he cruised by.

Scott Weaver's kinetic toothpick sculpture, there's a brilliant video about it here

and my new milk jug, which I found in one of Mold's many charity shops.
In light of my fast approaching final year (oh heavens) I feel it's probably wise to start making a more substantial effort. Not that I haven't been making an effort, I have, but it's not been what it could be. So I'm going to draw a line under all of the work that I've done over the past two years, (which inevitably I can hardly stand to look at now) and start AFRESH. I have made a list of things that my starting afresh plan will include:

1. Make something every week, be it; a drawing, a painting, some curtains, a book, a critter. (I have lots of little ideas that have been waiting to be attempted for far too long!).
2. Publish one blog post per week, minimum.
3. Learn something new every week. This week I'm going to learn how to use my Wacom tablet! (When it arrives that is).

I hope that all of this motivation lasts longer than a day.

On the rare occasion that the mornings are bright and shiny, and my curtains are sitting properly, I get an accidental camera obscura. It projects onto my ceiling and I can see people walking past outside.

Some work I did for a three day project based on phobias. I got Scriptophobia - the fear of writing in public. Oh brilliant.
(This is little Bryn two of two).
(Little Bryn one of two didn't survive the uni oven, a truly emotional Monday).
